I have a lot of friends who just don’t have time to make everything from scratch, but want it to seem like it is homemade. So, I have decided to start doing dessert hack recipes so you can make delicious treats without all the time and fuss. No one has to know.
Shhh, it will be our little secret.
Prep Time: 20 min
In Active Prep Time: 5 Minutes
Servings: 5 Rolls
“Homemade” Spicy Cinnamon Buns
Ingredients
1 Can Pop and Fresh Cinnamon Rolls
1/2 Cup Brown Sugar firmly packed
1/4 tsp Cayenne
2 tsp Vanilla
For the Frosting:
4 Tbsp Brown Butter*
3 Tbsp Cream Cheese
1 Cup Confectioners Sugar
1 tsp Vanilla
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a pie plate with aluminum foil, or an aluminum pie plate, and spray with non-stick spray. Open the can of cinnamon rolls and place in the pie plate. Combine the brown sugar, cayenne, and vanilla in small bowl. Use your fingers to pack the mixture onto the rolls. Place in the oven and bake for 14-17 minutes.
Meanwhile, place the butter in a small saucepan on medium low heat. Brown the butter by keeping the heat at a medium/high simmer. The butter will get frothy and then slowly turn brown and begin to smell nutty. When the butter is brown, place in the freezer to cool. Remove the buns from the oven and set to cool. Meanwhile, put the brown butter, cream cheese, confectioners sugar and vanilla in the bowl of a mixer and stir until combined. Frost the still warm cinnamon buns and serve!
