I love, love, love this recipe! I basically use it for every single pie I make. I adapted it from sweetcayenne.com
Buttermilk Pie Crust
2 1/2 Cup All Purpose Flour
2 Tbsp granulated sugar
3/4 tsp Salt
1/2 cup COLD (cut into small pieces)
2 Tbsp granulated sugar
3/4 tsp Salt
1/2 cup COLD (cut into small pieces)
1/2 Cup Shortening1/2 Cup Cold Milk
1 Tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar1 egg for a crust wash
Directions
Measure out the milk into a small bowl and add the apple cider vinegar. Set aside. Put the flour, sugar, butter, shortening, and salt into the bowl of your food processor. Pulse until the butter is pea size. Turn the food processor on low and stream in the milk until the dough just comes together in a ball. Place the dough in a ball, wrap in plastic wrap, and put it in the refrigerator for at least an hour - or freeze until needed.
